Went round to Jez and Ally’s tonight to welcome in the Olympics with a party. It was great to share the moment with such good friends.

I’m really only going to say one thing tonight (It is 1.15am) and that is this: I have always been patriotic, but I cannot tell you how proud I am to be British after seeing and hearing the Opening Ceremony. Fantastic, wasn’t it?

Oh, I know you could say we missed so many historical people and events from our past, but come on. It was just pure joy and theatre and I take my hat off to Danny Boyle and the whole team for that performance.

Welcome to the David Baldwin Blog

Nicola believes that I have a story to tell. She thinks that it will be emotionally therapeutic for me to keep a blog, so that I can express myself as I journey through this battle with cancer. Cancer that the doctors say is incurable.

But there is an important secondary objective to the blog. And that is to raise enough money through donations and fund raising activities to get me to Mexico, to the ‘Oasis of Hope’ hospital where an alternative treatment is available, treatment that is not offered here in the UK. My hope is that I can join the growing list of patients who have been cured of terminal cancers, if I can get there. The journey is not only medical; it is spiritual.

It is therefore with a mixture of embarrassment and submission that I welcome you all to my blog. I will embrace this over the coming days, weeks and months and hope to share, inform and perhaps inspire those who are going through similar journeys.
